Back-up Back-up Back-up

Thursday night I plugged in my firelite external hard-drive to retrieve a file. My old Dell computer grunted and groan and refused to recognize the hardware. Panic set in as I realized I had at least two computer worth of patterns and pictures stored on this external hard-drive. My next thought were of how many times I threatened to toss my computer in the swimming pool over the last five years. At least this time it wasn't the computer's fault. I got up Friday morning on a mission to find a computer store who could rescue my files from within that small metal box. I spent half the morning driving around trying to find the computer shop I knew was down the road from my house with out success. I should have gotten out the Big Yellow Book and let my fingers do the walking before I did all that driving around! Thanks to Computer Insights I now have a 120 gig rocketfish external drive with all my files inside along with warning that I should get a back-up for my back-up. I really want a new computer. The HP Smart Touch is on my wishlist.

I was in the same boat as you Bev -but for me it was my PC that refused to boot up and I had no backup at all. What a panic - long story, but with a bit of $$ and dell service I got it back up and running and went right out and bought an external drive but I never thought of more backup - that is a good idea.

I know my PC is living on borrowed time - that Smart Touch looks nice. My problem is I do not want Vista - none of my software will run on it and I would hate to have to buy Photoshop and everything else again - so I keep my fingers crossed.

Jean that is one of my worries also. I would have to replace all my programs if I got a new computer. I love photoshop and would have a hard time without it. New Technology really gets you coming and going.

I have an external storage unit, but have no clue how to use it. LOL. And, my 'puter is almost 6 years old - an antique! But it runs fast, and just keeps going! I would never buy anything other than a Sony. :D

Dear Bev, just wanted to say THANKS for your awesome blog and patterns I bought online. I am going through a very tough time at the moment, having IVF with bad side effects and doing beading is the only thing that helps me. Thanks so much for all your inspiration. Lots of love from Jenny in Australia
