Something's In The Air.

What I thought was a cold in my last post turned out to be an allergic reaction to an antibiotic. Sprinkle a little of this fuzzy stuff that has been blowing around covering the ground and I had a full blown allergy attack. Just in the nick of time we found the right combinations of medication to make things tolerable. My voice is coming back and I am feeling like a normal person again. The one thing I found disturbing is the comment about what is in the air after Hurricane Katrina. I have been told this several times during doctor visits over the last 2 years. Mold is a major part of the problem. Houses still sit waiting to be repaired or torn down. I carry paper masks in my car to wear when I have to drive in some of these areas. I ran into a friend I haven't seen in awhile last night. The stories are still the same. Waiting for repairs to be completed. On to the good stuff. Tomorrow I leave for Fort Lauderdale to board the Navigator of the Sea on March 1st for Bead Cruise 2008. I am so excited I can hardly wait for Friday to get here. I went shopping Sudany and bought a few new things to wear. We are going to visit the Turtle Farm in Jamestown Grand Caymon. In the mean time bead happy, be safe it is a jungle out there!!

Just A Big Blank

Thanks to the cold/flu bug I have been a blank for the better part of a week. Sick as a dog in the bed sick. Hopefully I am on the upside. It's that sad not to have anything to blog about?

Life's Little Surprises

My sister Rosanne sent me a box full of wonderful surprises. She knows me too well! This decal is going in the back window of my van. Vinyl Wall Art Cricket also got a surprise. A planet dog ball. It took a while before he would let me play with him. He just wanted to hug the ball. Poor puppy I made him pose for this picture. He thought the blanket was for him too. He growled at me when I told him it was mine! This a wonderful blanket. Puppy Paws on one side and black on the other side. Each fringe is hand-knotted. It is so soft and warm. I love hand-made especially when my sister makes it for me. Thanks Rosanne!! It felt like Christmas in February at my house with a box full of surprises.

Spring Challenge

I made it with 2 days to spare completing my entry for the Etsy Beadweavers "Spring Break Challenge" The challenge for me came with the focal point of the necklace. At first I had visions of pearls nestled in fringe circles sewn to a v shape in the front. I made the v and the necklace part using diagonal peyote. Out of the blue I remembered a dragonfly pendant I had from Earthenwood Studios. Those other thoughts quickly dispersed when I pulled out the pendant. Azaleas and rhododendrons came to mind. The south is beautiful in the spring with azaleas and rhododendrons in bloom. Surrounding the dragonfly pendant are 56 3-mm siam a/b crystals. Twisted hex beads added texture to the design. I am ready for spring, for the flowers and the dragonflies it will bring.
