Packed my bags

I have spent the day gathering things. Packing things I think Cricket and I will need for a road trip. Cricket has been worried his favorite toys will be left behind. Though out the day I would find a bear, a pig and boomer sitting in a pile by my feet and those big old puppy dog eyes staring at me as if to say don't forget to pack these. It's been almost 2 years since I have been to San Antonio. I feel the need to spend time with my family. To sit with Heather in her studio during the day while the kids are in school. Fixing dinner and having a family meal together in the evening. Listening to Hannah and Evangeline spin stories about their day. It will take 10 hours for Cricket and I to make it across Louisiana and half way across Texas. My IPOD is ready to play some tunes as we travel through the swamps and bayous. If you don't hear from me for awhile not to worry I will be two stepping my way across Texas.

Phishing

Phishing is like fishing and a person or persons who does this can make off with a pretty good haul. The haul can be access to your accounts using your password and thief of your credit card numbers. Not to mention the spoof emails about your paypal account where someone is really spending your money as your reporting the spam emails. What can you do? Change your passwords and change them often. Do not use the same password for different accounts. Example: Don't use the same password for your ebay account that you use for paypal account. The same can be said with etsy. Change your passwords on a regular basis. If your like me you will have to use a note book to write them down in. That one brain cell doesn't work well while watching your money go down the drain!! APWG website. The Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) is the global pan-industrial and law enforcement association focused on eliminating the fraud and identity theft that result from phishing, pharming and email spoofing of all types. Protect your self and your accounts. This message was brought to you by someone who has been Phished and is pissed.

Need A Little Color

Late one night when I couldn't sleep I stopped by Bello Modo Beads one of our sponsor's for Bead Cruise 2009. I must be hungry for colors as these beauties will find their way to my mail box next week. It's been a long time since have added any new colors to my delica collection. I still have my first little baggie of delicas I bought many years ago. The sticker price said $.65. How long ago was that? More than 12 years ago! Bronze, Mandarin Orange, Espresso Bean, Berry Fuchsia, Cherry Cola, Avocado Green, Vanilla Milkshake, Dark Amethyst, Tropical Teal and Canary Yellow. What new colors have you added to your collection of beads?

I Am Seeing Stars

Inspired by the dancers in Costa Maya. Bright bold colors had me seeing stars. I made this necklace for my sister Rosanne. Before we left on the Bead Cruise I had booked marked this pattern by Jean Power of London. Time did not allow for the necklace I wanted to make using her Geometric Stars patterns. I have stepped away from my normal monochromatic color scheme and let the color of the islands dazzle my color palette. I bought the pattern this weekend and have to say Jean's execution of her instructions and illustrations are exceptional. Jeans award-winning Geometric Bead work series has won a judges' favorite award in the 2008 FMG contest, 2nd place in the necklace category of the 2008 Bead Art Awards and was a finalist in the 2008 Bead Dreams Contest. I was fortunate enough to see Jean's work as a finalist in the 2008 Bead Dreams Contest last year at the Bead & Button show. Thanks Jean it was pleasure working with your pattern. Thanks for stopping by! Bev

We Remember Moments

This pendant by Green Girl studios sums up Bead Cruise 2009 for me. I will show the front of the pendant at the end of this post. We had the very best moments before and after the Bead Cruise. We made a trip to Turquoise Coyote in the morning for some great bead shopping. We met at Mother's Restaurant for dinner the night before the cruise. 45 Bead Cruiser descended up on Mother's Saturday night for some great New Orleans food. We were shocked by the change in the weather as a cold front came through that had us looking for something warm to wear. Marcia was sporting her beautiful hand knitted shawl. Visiting the Mayan Ruins in Belize. Bev, Rosanne, Heather and Lori. While in Cozumel Rosanne test drove a car! *grin* I made friends in a foreign country with a man smoking a cigar The Mayan Indians found me on Cozomel This post I am keeping simple tonight. Traveling around the Gulf of Mexico can wear a girl out! I must confess that on the last 3 Bead Cruises I didn't do very much beading. This year I finished this piece for the Bead Cruise contest. We had to use two items from out gift bags in our design. Here is the piece I completed. I named it Mermaid's Moment. The pendant is from Green Girl Studios. The button closure was made by Mamacita beads It took me four days to finish the bead crochet rope and a few borrow pearls from Rosanne to bring the design together. Thank you Heather for putting together a Great bead cruise. Our sponsors were so generous with their donations to the gift bag. Beaders Rock!
