My favorite saying is "I've been hanging out like a toad at home." Contemplating life. In that time I finished my Bead Cruise projects for Bead Cruise 2015. Can you believe next year will be our 10th anniversary! It sold out within the first two weeks! Heather does such an awesome job hosting this event. 

These are the classes I will be teaching.

Let the Starfish be your guide as you capture a ceramic cabochon by Suburban Girl Studios. You will create a bead embroidered bezel with tiny crystals that sparkle within the netting accented with a starfish. A Twisted Herringbone rope with a starfish clasp completes the design. 

Surround a Lunasoft cabochon with a peyote bezel. Ruffle accents with crystals and pearl nestle inside of the folds.  A brass chain completes the design .

Wear one, wear two or dress them up with another bracelet.  You will love these bangles made with Cubic Right Angle Weave. Swarovski pearls and crystal complete the design.

I Am Seeing Stars

Inspired by the dancers in Costa Maya. Bright bold colors had me seeing stars. I made this necklace for my sister Rosanne. Before we left on the Bead Cruise I had booked marked this pattern by Jean Power of London. Time did not allow for the necklace I wanted to make using her Geometric Stars patterns. I have stepped away from my normal monochromatic color scheme and let the color of the islands dazzle my color palette. I bought the pattern this weekend and have to say Jean's execution of her instructions and illustrations are exceptional. Jeans award-winning Geometric Bead work series has won a judges' favorite award in the 2008 FMG contest, 2nd place in the necklace category of the 2008 Bead Art Awards and was a finalist in the 2008 Bead Dreams Contest. I was fortunate enough to see Jean's work as a finalist in the 2008 Bead Dreams Contest last year at the Bead & Button show. Thanks Jean it was pleasure working with your pattern. Triton's Daughter

I have been in a beading frenzy for the last couple of weeks. I had deadlines to meet and class projects to complete. TRITON The fish-tailed son of Poseidon. He was a god of the sea who could calm the waves with a blow of his conch-shell horn. Triton's Daughter Necklace was designed especially for Bead Cruise 2008. The mermaid beads and shells are by Earthenwoodstudio. The collection of Goddess Beads. These original carvings are a celebration of the feminine, and an inspired love of the Earth. It was pleasure meeting Melaine at Bead & Button this year where I picked up the beads she had ready for me. Class Description: Bead embroider a pendant that features a ceramic mermaid from Earthenwood Studio. Embellish and add coraling fringe to accent the seashell art beads. Technique: Bead Embroidery with surface embellishments and coraling fringe. This a full view of the necklace completed with heart and oval pearls. Tropical Delight Bracelet Class Description: Catch the carefree island spirit with this twisted ndebele bangle. This week I felt like Rodney Dangerfield. "I laugh in the face of danger," As I look at the mess my creating has left in my beadroom! I borrowed this line from Heather. "Deadlines Amuse Me" As I dropped two projects off in the mail to the publisher. I realized....I no longer had an example for the class I am teaching on Sunday. Today I will work on making another!

Bead Embroidery and Treasure Bracelets

All in the family. For years my sister Rosanne and I have shared a passion for beads. I was thrilled when Rosanne joined us on the bead cruise this year. It was great to spend a whole week with my sister. I really treasured our time together. This afternoon there was a message on my phone from Rosanne to check my email for pictures of the two bead embroidery bracelets she finished. Rosanne has been a long time admirer of Robin Akin's bead embroidery. After completing the Mayan Treasure bracelet class Rosanne was ready to start her own exploration into bead embroidery. The first words out of my mouth when I called her back tonight is "I Want it!!" The color choices are perfect as they enhance the moonface bead to create a beautiful piece of bead art. Finished Bead Cruise Projects

In the spotlight. Anne Tisdale was spotted at the San Antonio Bead Society Show wearing her Touch of Russian Elegance Necklace. The design was one I taught on the Bead Cruise this year. Doen't she look lovely! The orginal "Touch of Russian Elegance has a vintage brooch for the focal point. For the cruise I modified the instructions to include making a bezel with a 27 mm Swarvarski Crystal for the center of the necklace. Sharon Hessoun made earrings to match her Marcasite and Blue Iris Touch of Russian Elegance necklace. For a limited time I am offering kits and pattern books for the "Touch of Russian Elegance Necklace. Also available are kits and instructions for the "Bumps in the Road" bracelet. Three Little Monkeys

These little monkeys see no evil, hear no evil or speak no evil. They are hanging around to see what kind of mischief they can get into. I thought they might like to go on the beadcruise and checking out the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins in Costa Maya. 33 days to go and we will be sailing the high seas and enjoying our adventure on the Slendour of the Sea. The monkey bead was gift from my friend Brenda. She brought it back from Bedazzled in Washington D.C. I think I will start a little journal to see how many miles these little monkeys and I will get to travel this spring.
